Happy Halloween 2010

Great day for us today!  It's Halloween and it brings back such good memories for me of my own Halloween as a kid.  My mom and I would go to the fabric store and pick out a pattern.  Then I don't know when my mom had time, but I would have a costume made by Halloween.  These were the only pictures I could find today...
What I really love about these pics is decor of our house.  It screams 1970s!
Now this picture I love!  David and I went to the Arboretum in Dallas.  He was one year old and I was pregnant with Ryan.  I chased him all over the pumpkin patch and had no idea I would be chasing another boy and then another in the years to come!
This one makes me laugh of Adam and his first Halloween.  He was the cutest pirate riding a horse of many colors that I had ever seen!

And speaking of horses, here is Ryan on his first Halloween.  His eyes are as dark as the horses and could he be any cuter?

Polyester Dog

Adam loves dogs, so naturally I thought he would make a great dog for Halloween.  His costume is adorable and when you push its paw, it barks.  Who could resist, but a nineteen month old boy?

And so off with the costume.  We went to Ridglea Country Club for a Halloween dinner.  Adam had the best time on the dance floor.

And then, he played patty cake with a cupcake.
All was going well until cupcake started playing hard to get.
Don't ever tease a polyester dog, he will do what comes natural and dog pile you.

(Cupcake mom was laughing too, just for the record)

If you can't dog pile a cupcake, then you always have your brother.

Smells Like Tortilla Soup

Tonight I made tortilla soup.  This may sound insignificant, but the conditions have to be just right for this soup.  There has to be a chill of fall in the air.  And you must share this meal with friends and family.  I first made this soup in college when my way to Brandon's heart was through his stomach.  He fell in love with me and my soup.

Back in our early days of marriage when we lived in Waco, Brandon's youngest brother would walk in our door and say, "it smells like tortilla soup in here."  It used to embarrass me, because sometimes I wouldn't have anything cooking and I wondered if my house just permanently smelled like onions and chicken.

This soup is cheap, easy and brings backs the best memories!

Wild Quail

Ryan had the opportunity to go hunting at Rough Creek Lodge this past Sunday.  Believe me, the name is deceiving, it's not rough at all, more like the four seasons of hunting lodges.  Ryan called to tell me he shot a wild quail (as if there were other kind).  "Shot it with a 410," he told me.  Brandon said he ran down the road to retrieve it, picked it up and wrung its neck.

Here is a project Ryan recently completed at school describing his wants and needs.  His wants include fishing, duck hunting and a porch with rocking chair.  No doubt, Brandon has a hunting buddy for life!

Hello World Serious!

Brandon and Eric bought tickets for the Rangers game Friday night in hopes we would see the Rangers become the 2010 American League Champions!  Did we ever?

David had a great time and was very into the game and the players.  At one point, he asked Brandon, "when is there going to be a commercial?"

Ryan was a little young to grasp the whole thing.  At the end of the game as the fireworks were going off and everyone was cheering with pure joy, he asked if the Rangers won?  To which Brandon said yes, and then Ryan asked, "are the Rangers going to the World Serious?"  Maybe not to the world, but to Texas it's serious!

The night was just like a Mastercard commercial.....priceless

On a Roll

Funny, I like for the toilet paper to hang over while I know some prefer the opposite.  But regardless, if I don't change the toilet paper roll in this house, nobody will.  I arrest my case...
