Ryan lost his first tooth last night. The funny thing is, it's really lost. It fell out and he didn't notice. David had to tell him it was gone. We searched all over and couldn't find it. Thank goodness, the tooth fairy is very understanding about these things.
If you look close, you can see the permanent tooth next to the missing one has already poked through. The baby tooth in front is barely hanging on.
Adam thought he lost a tooth too!

Mini Me
When I took this picture of Adam yesterday, I immediately thought of a picture of Brandon we have in his baby book. Adam is Brandon's mini me!

In Santo
Last Saturday my aunt and uncle (dad's side) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful gathering of family in friends in Santo, Texas. It was a glorious fall day and the small town of Santo was ever so quaint.
I thought it was a brilliant idea to display my aunt's wedding dress for the party.
And the best part...look who we found in Santo, Santa!

Work of Art
Now that David is in first grade, he brings home a lot less artwork from school. Kindergarten allowed for free centers where David would spend all his time and then bring home works of art.
Yesterday, David pulled this out of his backpack and Ryan got excited and quickly said, "David you are still an artist!"

Where the boys are.....
I love that Brandon has a passion for hunting, but I do not share his passion nor never claimed to. But every once in awhile, I have to be a good sport and go to the deer lease. In all honesty, I have been before, but only for a few hours and certainly never the whole weekend.
My time was up and I packed it up and headed with the boys and Brandon to the lease for the weekend. It's not that rough, Brandon has a "nice" trailer with running water and electricity. However, as David once told Brandon, "it's not my thing."
Witnessing what takes at the deer lease, I have come to the conclusion it's the place where men go to be boys and boys go to be men....

Funny Adam
Coming home is always nice. We had a great trip and everyone was glad we were back. I was home with Adam no less than 15 minutes before he fell in the bathtub and hit his eye on the faucet.
Adam turned 20 months yesterday! Brandon said the other day it seemed strange to look at the family picture (taken before he was born) in the hall and not see Adam in it.

To Boot
Like I mentioned, our hotel was very nice, but not in an uncomfortable stuffy way. So when the air conditioner in our room was not cooling properly, we called the front desk for assistance. They quickly sent a repair man up to our room to service our unit. The repair man walks into our room and begins small talk and asks, "are you in town for the rodeo?" Now, I am not sure whether to be offended or not. I love a good rodeo, don't get me wrong, but what impression did we give that made you think we would travel so far to attend a rodeo in the first few seconds of opening the door and meeting us? I now have a complex, thank you very much Mr. Repairman.
In fairness, Brandon said he probably saw the boots on the floor and assumed. Those people in South Carolina just don't know that all great Texans travel with their boots on!

All Around Charelston
So another great day in the South! We shopped and then had a great lunch al fresco complete with strawberry bread pudding for dessert! Then, a three hour walking tour all around Charleston. It was terrific!
Here is the lobby of our hotel, Charleston, Place. It's the kind of place where they turn down your bed with a chocolate on the pillow at night, I like it!
The historic homes are amazingly quaint.
And I am adding this to my Christmas list, a joggle board. It's a long, pliable board that is supported on each end by wooden stands and you kind of bounce and rock at the same time. I really want one!

Who You Gonna Kick Out First?
Three years and three months ago was the last time Brandon and I were alone without the boys. We are on a little getaway to Charleston, SC for Brandon's work. It's lovely here, and I am already thinking of when to come back.
Packing and leaving the boys is never easy. In fact, I felt like this picture David drew last week in art. David was very worried about the schedule since he is staying in Fort Worth, while Ryan and Adam are in Waco. He asked, "Who you gonna kick out first?" Poor thing, and as they tell the babies in the nursery at church that are screaming their heads off when they get dropped off..."Mama loves you and Mama always comes back".
Once I got off the plane and sat down to a nice dinner with Brandon it was worth it. I felt like I was 23 years old, oh so free! Traveling with just Brandon was simple. It almost seemed like a joke, it was so easy. So life continues on easy street today with lunch at a corner bistro and a mani/pedi in the afternoon and dinner reservations tonight!
I promise David, I will come back, but not today!

Animal Sounds
Adam is wiggly wiggly when I change his diapers, so I always have to keep him very engaged with song or silly faces or it's a mess. Today, while changing his diaper, I asked him what a cat said, "eow, eow," he said. Then we moved on to cow and dog with the appropriate responses. Right before I was finished with his last snap, he asked, "deer?" Long pause, while I thought, what does a deer say? And only a child of Brandon's would think to ask about a deer.
Here's a picture from hunting season 2006. Ryan (1.5 years) and David (3 years) pose with Daddy before the big hunt. Happy opening weekend to all the hunters!

Next Year I Want to Be Tony Romo
Halloween is only 365 days away and David has decided he wants to be Tony Romo. He was considering a mummy but decided on Tony. Here is David this year in front of this creepy house in our neighborhood on Halloween. It's like a real haunted house, just sold in a foreclosure.
If you know Ryan, then you know his love for headless things. Loves anything headless, especially the headless horseman! Batman and all his Star Wars figurines are without heads. It's a little strange, but as long as heads stay out of my freezer, we are good.
Nissa and Ryan were out with the triplets and Adam thought he would pull a fast one on the dragon and bee. Look at dragon doing a double take.
