Adam Off

Adam is officially in preschool!  He goes two days a week!  That is a total of 10 hours to myself and it's great and lonely all at the same time.  Bless his heart, no fan fare for him on his first big day.  Just me dropping him off, but I was proud.  He walked right in and sat at the desk and started coloring.  It made me sad to think he will be in school or working from now on!  Slightly dramatic, but true!

Here Adam thinks all first day of school pictures should be taken in the front yard by the Tanglewood Elementary school sign.

Adam also thought everyone cries on their first day, but as you might not be able to tell, he is faking.  Just a warning to the mothers of his new friends, his teachers and girls fifteen years from now, he is street smart and savvy and will use his blond hair and killer smile to his advantage.

New Car, Birthday, a Deer and Crawdads

So long to the "giant truck" as Adam called it.  Yes, it was a huge truck, so large it would not fit in our garage or the parking garage downtown.  Add to the fact the alternator went out, and Brandon decided it was time to let it go.  Never fear, he replaced the giant truck with another truck a little less giant.
Brandon celebrated his 37th Birthday and his grandfather celebrated his 85th this weekend in Waco.
Here are all the Jones cousins together in one picture.  We promised a Dr. Pepper if they would sit still for one minute.  Mimi and Bapa have seven grandchildren seven and under.  And Russell and Kate are expecting their first in March!
For Labor Day, we hung out at Brandon's new deer lease with friends.  The property is about an hour away and Brandon is very excited about his prospects there.  He sold his trailer and he will have a house to stay at on the lease.
Yes, that's really a deer.  He is a pet! We accompanied our friends to their relatives house and met this sweet little thing.  He was found as a baby and bottle fed.  He loved animal crackers and bread.  He would not eat Adam's  hot dog but Brandon said deer are herbivores so that made sense.  Adam and Ryan were totally amazed!

A first for me, crawdad fishing.  It was great fun and no hooks or worms involved.  Just throw out your baited line with shrimp or bacon and watch those suckers grab hold and then yank it out of the water.  The boys could have done it all day.  Catch and release, boys - no crawdads coming home with us.

Blog Anniversary

Creative writing with pictures, awesome concept and right up my alley, so I started my blog one year ago today.  It's my one year blog anniversary!!  Yippee Yahoo!  What fun this has been!  Thanks for reading and sharing your comments, it's been real.

And I never knew there were so many blogs out there.  What a treat to read about the lives of friends I know and the lives of people I have never met, but feel like friends.  I look forward to your posts everyday and I am inspired.

One day, I pray this journal serves as a great reminder to my boys of the lives they led.

I Cried

Ryan started off the week great!  Monday and Tuesday, life was good.  Wednesday he hit a wall and has not recovered.  This morning he cried all the way to school and cried  for thirty minutes his teacher said.  She called in the counselor to come "counsel" him.  Poor buddy, I hate to tell him, but I cried everyday of kindergarten and first grade.  Everyday!  He says he misses us and feels alone.  Is that not sad?

I pray my sweet boy who cries tears as big as raindrops feels comfort at school soon.

That was just you the other day.  Now you are carrying a backpack and buying your school lunch.

Here I am on the first day of Kindergarten.  Lots of things I love about this picture...the yarn ribbons in my hair, the sleeves of my dress, our cat Cinder in the right middle of the pic, my tin lunchbox, the rock landscaping (no grass grows in El Paso), and my white socks with sandals.
And Ryan, here I am crying as I prepared to leave for college at A&M.  See, I missed my mama even then!

All That For a Buck

David had a wiggly tooth and stood in front of the mirror for 20 minutes yanking it out to make a buck from the tooth fairy!  Maybe he needs an allowance?

Computer on the Mend

Oh how sad, I have missed my blog!  My poor little computer went haywire, but I am back!  I drooled over a Mac but with two mortgages, we opted for repairing my dinosaur.  And the best part, the repair tech guys replaced my keyboard!  Hooray, I can type (refer to blog entry where Adam picked like popcorn keys off my keyboard)!

Much has happened since my last entry...our anniversary, a trip to San Antonio and the first day of school for David and Ryan.  I'll fill you in with pictures....

My sweet and ever so handsome husband of thirteen years!

All cleaned up and ready for a big night out in San Antonio!

Now I have two Tigers to contend with at home!

Meet the teacher and say cheese!

And we wouldn't be the Jones family if we didn't play a little baseball along the way!

Happy 36th!

I am on the backside of thirty!  Today was extra joyous celebrating with my sweet friends at one of my favorite restaurants.  Hugs and kisses to all those who blessed me today with warm wishes and presents.  It always feels good to know I am loved!

And speaking of which, I now have dated and been married to Brandon for over half my life!  Thanks babe for thinking I was a cute girl in your Sociology class at Texas A&M!  Whoop!  (And just for the record...that was the only class I ever had a higher grade than you in)
