There Goes My Life

I was 28 years old and Brandon 29 when precious David was born.  I was ready to be a mom and honestly, Brandon thought his life was over.  No more quiet nights or care free days.  Time alone together was scarce and the pressure to provide for a family became real.

With time, you fell in love with your little boy.  David became your best pal and more best buddies to come with Ryan and Adam.

Now, they are your life!

Happy Father's Day to you Brandon!  You are more than three boys could hope for!  We love you immensely!

Two Year Old Typing Trouble

I have been having trouble typing today.  Thanks Adam...who needs a space bar, a few control keys and four letters?

Only your dimple saved you today...

Happy Fort Worth Anniversary

Six years ago today we moved to Fort Worth!  David was 19 months old and Ryan 6 weeks.

It ranks up there as "one of the best decisions" we ever made.   Brandon's motto - life is too short to live in Dallas.

I was lonely at first and it took awhile, but now I am grounded.  I love our friends, neighbors, school and church.  We are blessed beyond measure and so thankful to live in this great city!

First Day of Summer

Yesterday was our first day of summer!  David finished school Monday and so now I have a second grader, kindergartner and preschooler in the house!

For no reason other than it was on sale at Central Market for $7.99/lb, we cooked and ate a lobster.  Yes, it was very much alive and we placed it in the boiling water to cook.  I am sure I missed a great teachable moment, but we just boiled and squealed.

And smashed.

And then played baseball.

And tried to stay cool.

May the good times roll!

All Stars

David and Ryan are playing University Little League All Stars this summer.  We had our first traveling tournament this weekend in Weatherford.  It was hot, dirty and they lost both of their games, but it was worth it just to see them in their uniforms.

Mimi and Bapa drove to Weatherford Saturday to watch.  After raising four boys that all played ball, it's fun for them to watch their grandsons.

In Love With

Apparently the new catch phrase for incoming 2nd graders is "in love with."

After carting around boys to and from after school functions this week, I have heard that phrase repeated a lot in my Suburban.

But this afternoon made my giggle when I heard this...

Background note: Apparently Ryan is in love with Caroline.

"So Ryan, if Caroline dies who are you going to remarry?" asked a friend.

Ryan's response, "Oh, I will just go hunting."

A man after his Daddy's deer lovin' heart!

Field Day

Today was first grade field day at Tanglewood.  Siblings were welcome.

"School" took good care of his little brother the whole time.

He ran like it was for the Olympic trials.

And the preschool graduates played in the gravel.  Kindergarten here they come!

 "School" still in charge.

And here is Adam playing his favorite game....Raise Your Hand.  "Hey, raise your hand if you have a girlfriend," David says.

"Me," Adam says.  Then, the questions get worse.  "Raise your hand if you go poop in your diaper?"

"Me," Adam says with enthusiasm.  And on it goes.  It's terrible to admit, but it's really funny.

David's artwork was selected for this poster regarding the Trinity River at school.  Here is Adam posing in front of his scene.

Then, while poor David went back to class, the rest of us went for doughnuts.  They had a field day!
